TAYER.lab designed and produced a custom stage costume for Sofie Kovářová’s concert performances of “Bye Bye Mami.” Rather than creating a look for a single appearance, we developed the costume as a distinctive performance outfit that could become part of the song’s visual identity and work across different concert settings.
The turquoise and silver look combines a fluid silhouette with metallic details, structured embellished shoulders and wide-leg trousers. The construction allows freedom of movement, while the strong colour contrast, silhouette and reflective elements make the costume clearly readable from a distance.
The costume has already proved its versatility in very different performance environments.
At Ladislav Korbel’s 38th birthday concert at Divadlo Hybernia in Prague, Sofie performed with a live symphony orchestra. Under theatrical lighting and against the dark stage and orchestra, the turquoise colour and reflective silver details created a strong visual presence.
The same costume was later worn for Sofie’s open-air performance at the Živé Vinohrady festival in Prague. In daylight and in a completely different urban setting, the colour, proportions and metallic detailing continued to work effectively — demonstrating that the costume was designed not for one particular stage, but for repeated live performances.
For the Divadlo Hybernia concert, TAYER.lab also provided wardrobe support for Sofie’s other looks, including fittings, alterations and preparation of garments for the performance.
For us, a successful stage costume is not designed for a single photograph or one evening. It should support the performer, respond to movement and light, remain recognizable across different environments and become part of the artist’s visual language.
