TAYER.lab created a custom stage look for Czech singer Sofie Kovářová for her performance at a charity evening hosted by Andrea Verešová, held in connection with the launch of Verešová’s charity calendar.
The starting point was Sofie’s own sketch: a bold asymmetrical combination of glossy red and classic grey pinstripes. Our role was to translate her visual idea into a fully realised performance costume, developing the construction, proportions and material combinations while preserving the character of the original concept.
The final look centres around an asymmetric tailored jacket, combining two contrasting materials and visual languages within a single silhouette. For the performance, TAYER.lab also created coordinating shorts and a top, allowing freedom of movement while maintaining the strong graphic character of the outfit.
Custom red gloves were produced for the dancers, extending the colour language of Sofie’s costume across the performance and connecting the artist and dancers into one coherent stage image.
The project reflects an important part of our approach to stage costume production: we can enter the creative process at different stages. Sometimes we develop an original costume concept; in other cases, as here, an artist or creative team arrives with an idea of their own. Our task is then to turn that vision into a functional, stage-ready costume through pattern development, material selection, tailoring and technical execution.
